What has changed in the HostTab app and on this website, newest first
The app updates itself: when a new version is out, it arrives in the background the next time you open HostTab with signal, and nothing about your account or your records changes. Bigger changes are also announced on WhatsApp.
Website 2.3.0
A quote in one tap, and pages for installing, for cleaners and for what is new
Under the price calculator, Send me this quote opens WhatsApp with your number of properties and the pass you chose already typed, so you can ask how to start without retyping anything. New pages explain how to put HostTab on your home screen, what your cleaner sees when you send them a link, and (this page) what has changed. The owners page shows a sample owner statement, creators can print a one-page flyer with a QR code, and the home page says whether the app is up and which public holiday is next.
App 7.13
The app has its own address: app.hosttab.co.ke
HostTab now opens at app.hosttab.co.ke. Every link the app makes for you, a creator link, a cleaner's link, a co-host invite or a creator's statement page, carries the new address. The old address, hosttab-live.netlify.app, keeps working, so a phone that installed HostTab there carries on, signed in, and there is nothing to move: your records are online. When it suits you, open the new address, sign in, add it to your home screen and remove the old icon.
Website 2.2.0
The website is hosttab.co.ke
The website moved to its own address, hosttab.co.ke, with the app at app.hosttab.co.ke. Links typed with the website's address still land in the right place: hosttab.co.ke/join/CODE opens a creator's page in the app, and a cleaner's link, a co-host invite or a creator's statement page typed the same way opens the same page there. Sharing the terms or the privacy notice on WhatsApp now shows the HostTab card.
App 7.12
Pay now: instant M-Pesa, with safeguards
Choose a pass, tap Pay now and enter your M-Pesa PIN on your phone: your days are added the moment the payment goes through. If you would rather send the money yourself, the app still shows the number and your reference, and we switch the pass on when we have your M-Pesa message, usually within a few hours. Behind it, one payment can never add days twice: an M-Pesa code that is already on an invoice is refused, and a late confirmation goes to review instead of adding days again. Dates are also right on a phone set to a time zone outside Kenya, and the app reads far fewer records on each visit, which saves data.
App 7.11
Hostbook is now HostTab
The app, the receipts, the WhatsApp messages and the guide all say HostTab, with a new logo: a brass key fob with the H stamped on it. Nothing about your account changes. Your sign-in, your records, your payment references (HB-...) and your backups are exactly as they were, and backups saved under the old name still restore.
App 7.9
Creator links, and a page for each creator
A creator who talks to hosts now has a link of their own, app.hosttab.co.ke/join/CODE. It shows who invited you, the free trial their code gives (30 days with the standard terms, instead of 7), the app's screens and the prices, and one button into the app with the code filled in. Creators earn 20% of each pass a host they introduced buys, for 12 months, and see their figures on a private statement page: never a host's name, number or records. Hosts who already have a code can type it when they create their account.
