Hosting for an owner
For owners who use a manager, and managers who run units for owners
Many short-stay units are run by someone other than the owner: a manager, a relative, or a caretaker who also takes bookings. HostTab is built for that arrangement. The owner holds the account, the manager does the day-to-day, and both can see what is happening.
In short
- The owner creates the account and invites the manager as a co-host with a WhatsApp link.
- The co-host records bookings, payments, expenses and meter readings, sends check-outs to the cleaner, and makes the owner statement.
- Billing, settings, backups, the team and deleting the property stay with the owner.
- The owner statement is a PDF for the month: each stay, what came in after channel fees, what was spent, the manager's fee if there is one, and what is paid to the owner.
See a sample statement (PDF): one month for a made-up studio, made by the app's own statement code with sample figures.
If you are the owner
- You see every booking and every shilling as it is recorded, from your own phone, without asking.
- You pay for the pass and choose when to renew. Nothing renews by itself.
- You can remove a co-host at any time from Settings. Your records stay with you.
- Add your name and details once in Settings, and the owner statement is pre-filled every month.
If you run units for owners
- Ask each owner to create an account and invite you. Your one sign-in opens every property you have been invited to.
- At month end, make the owner statement from the Dashboard and send it on WhatsApp. Set your management fee once, as a percentage of net rental income, and every statement works out your fee and the owner's payout the same way the dashboard does. Guests appear as "Amina W.", never with full names or phone numbers. See a sample statement (PDF).
- Your own units, if you have any, live in your own account and are billed to you.
What a co-host cannot do
A co-host cannot buy or change the pass, change settings, make or restore backups, export or import spreadsheets, invite or remove other co-hosts, or delete the property. Those stay with the owner.
